I came from a small town where a lot of my friends where those that you grew up with from elementary school, and where the entire grade was relatively friends with everyone. Coming in rush week I was more just looking at everything with no idea if I would rush or not, but somehow I ended up at Chi Omega Rho’s Booth and I am happy i did. I ended up continuing rushing those two weeks and finally decided to pledge, as this group made me feel welcomed and heard unlike any other groups I met on campus. |

As cliche as it sounds, everyone is unique in their own way and brings something different to the group. Crush party 2019. It was my first bigger party as an active member and I just remember being genuinely happy the entire time. Keep an open mind. Didn't originally think you wanted to be a part of a sorority? Neither did the majority of the girls you ask and they are all happy they joined. It can all seem pretty intimidating at first but some of the bonds you'll make are ones you won't find anywhere else. |

Why Chi Omega Rho?
I chose Chi Omega Rho because I wanted to feel like I
belonged somewhere as I was a transfer student and not living in the freshman dorms during my first year at LTU. The very first time I was introduced to the girls of Chi Omega Rho was during Spring Rush of 2016 at the booth where I fell in love with all of them. They were accepting of how loud and obnoxious I can be along with how crazy my laugh can get. Finding a space that could be my home away from home was something that I truly appreciated during my times as an active member of the sorority. I found a family that I could lean on during tough times as well as celebrate the best times of my life, and I will always treasure those memories.
Best Memory?
One of my favorite memories of the sorority besides my first Song & Skit / Greek day (and the many that followed) was my pledging process. I thoroughly enjoyed learning all of the history of Chi Omega Rho as well as getting to know all of the actives and alumnae. Even though pledging was stressful and extremely tedious at times I wouldn't change anything about it. Those moments of times where I thought I wouldn't be able to do this or that I just wanted to give up altogether made me a much stronger women for the better.
What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
My advice for any girl who is interested in joining Chi Omega Rho or any organization on campus for that matter is to make sure you have the time to commit to an organization into your schedule. Do your research about the organization and talk to the members, either active or alumnae, and see what they have to say about it. A sorority, especially Chi Omega Rho isn't just something that will be a part of your college years. It is going to be a part of you for the rest of your life and you should want to commit to something if you are passionate about it. It is not only what you can do within the sorority that matters, but what the sorority can do for you.
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
I learned how to manage and schedule my time better throughout my pledging and active years in Chi Omega Rho. I've always been passionate with how the sorority was more business oriented and took all of that to heart. I also strengthened my communication skills with the help of constantly receiving emails within the sorority, as well as staying in contact with actives and the pledges during each semester. On a more personal level I also learned how to be more present within any situation that I was in and also trying not to forget that there is always something that you can learn during your time as an active no matter how much you think you already know.

After joining Chi Omega Rho, I not only have my sisters for life but I also have made friendships made through greek life. Halloween of 2015, we had a mixer with Alpha Sigma Phi (our brother fraternity for fall of 2015) and that is when I was given my big brother, Kris Koko. Why Chi Omega Rho?
The summer before I came to LTU I didn’t even know that the campus had a Greek System. I received the Chi Omega Rho scholarship application just as many freshman had, and through that I met Audrey. I had always been on a team throughout high school and I was looking for that feeling I lost, and a sisterhood seemed the best way. I had talked to Audrey all summer, and then at orientation I met Nicole Pitchford, our Sorority’s president at the time. She was my leader, and I wouldn't stop asking her questions about the sorority. I honestly don’t know how she didn’t kill me. What made me sure I wanted to be part of Chi Omega Rho though, was the fact that the girls were trying to impress me, not myself trying to impress them. They constantly told me to cross rush, but I never did, I felt like I had already found my home.

We happened to have a meteor shower happening over summer retreat 2017. I was being a bum and didn’t want to go out with the few girls going to watch. Izzy came and asked me to come so I finally said I would.
Sitting on that beach, listening to the waves crash with my daughter beside me as we saw shooting star after star. That is my favorite memory. It was that moment I came to terms with what I had accomplished in my time in the sorority, and I looked back at every moment I had. I thought of being the girl who went through pledging with wide eyes and an open heart. I thought of receiving my mother, who is one of my biggest role models and greatest friends. I thought of receiving my own daughter, Izzy, and how proud I was of the woman I’ve seen her grow to be. I thought of watching Nicole going alum and being forced to stand on my own two feet. I thought of everything that the sorority has taught me, as I held my daughters hand and watched the sky fall around me.
That. That is the moment that will touch my heart forever.

Why Chi Omega Rho?
When I came to LTU I had no clue what a sorority was. Rush week seemed to be a big thing on campus and I participated in both the fall and spring semester a little bit. The only booth I actively went to was Chi Omega Rho's. Everyone in the sorority seemed to be so kind and welcoming. When they offered me a bid I decided it could be a fun experience.
Best Memory?
2015 Greek Week has been my favorite memory in the sorority so far. All of the Greek organizations got together to participate in silly events, and everyone just had a great time!

My boyfriend went to LTU and was a part of Sig Ep, so I have always hung around all the amazing girls of Chi Omega Rho. He is going to graduate soon, and I wanted a reason to still come around. I didn't want to be the weird girl that hangs out at another school for no reason ("She doesn't even go here"). Since the girls were already my friends, why shouldn't they be my sisters. Now they are all stuck with me!

My favorite Memory was winning my first Greek Day!! I had watched for a couple years, and I actually got to participate and we won!

Why Chi Omega Rho?
When I came to the US as a freshmen, I knew I wanted to be part of a sorority, because I was looking for experiencing the real American college life. But Rush was too soon for me in Fall 2012; I was still adjusting to American life in general, so I didn't go to any events at that time. I told myself that I would do that in Spring semester, but I was already busy with some projects I had started. Well, at the beginning of 2013 Fall semester I realized that I really wanted to join a sorority because it was part of my "American dream". I knew a few ladies who were part of Chi Omega Rho, and I had the chance to meet all of them during Rush. I admired this group of amazing ladies and what they had been doing, and I knew that this was the sorority I wanted to become part of! It is great being an O'Rho!
Best Memory?
As a new member, I would say Initiation was one of the best moments, because I finally got to be a member of this wonderful organization. But the steps I had to make towards this moment were great memories as well, they helped me realize I made the right decision by joining Chi Omega Rho.

I choose Chi Omega Rho to branch out of my comfort zone and meet the ladies. They seemed so confident of themselves and there for each-other and really wanted to see if I could find a home with them and I did!
Best Memory?
I have two favorite memories through my years a part of Chi Omega Rho. 1.) Getting my Mother Nicole Pitchford. I looked up to her so much and at the time she was president of my sorority and I just knew that she would push me to be the best women I could. 2.) Greek Day 2015!!! Chi Omega Rho actually came in a strong second place this year after winning Greek Day in 2014. Despite this outcome the day was filled with so much determination, love, laughter and tons of fun- one of my favorite to date for sure!
What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
Take the chance, really truly! Open up your mind for everything it has to offer. It did amazing things for my life and I wouldn't a single second.
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
Almost everything! Time management, conflict resolution, professionalism, organization, every day I end up using a skill that I used in my time as a member!

Why Chi Omega Rho?
I told myself when I came to college that I wasn't a sorority girl; we've all seen the movies and the stereotypes that are made. Throughout my first semester I was able to become friends with many of the sisters of Chi Omega Rho and found they were the exact opposite of that stereotype. Every sister brought their own unique personality to the sorority. I wanted to be apart of that and be able to add my own uniqueness to the sisterhood. Also, Chi Omega Rho doesn't operate as just a social organization, but a professional one to prepare all the sisters for her chosen career after graduation, too. The friendships made and the preparation for real life is what made my decision to join so easy.
Best Memory?
Greek Day every year will be highlighted in my memories! It brings back my competitive side from gymnastics and swimming in grade school, but it really shows how close the Greek community is at Lawrence Tech. I'm sure I will still look forward to it as an alumna, too.

The very first day of the spring semester, Nicole Goldi invited me to the rush booth. All of my friends were in class, so I decided to check things out. I first met Victoria Ridella and Liz Gildea and I felt that they weren't pressuring me to join, but rather opening their selves to me to get to know me for who I am. After meeting another commuter, Audrey Yee, I realized just because I don't live on campus doesn't mean I can't get involved. It is possible and will allow me to meet more people, be active on campus and learn the responsibilities of being a part of an organization.

I chose to rush Chi Omega Rho because of how awesome and friendly all the girls were when I first met them and how they continued to treat me throughout the fall semester. My first year mentor was Megan Holborn who introduced me to the sorority and told me how it had impacted her life and all the friends she now has because of it and being involved on campus. I felt like I really fit well with this group of girls because of their outgoing, friendly, funny and interesting characteristics. Also none of the sororities reached out to me as much as Chi Omega Rho. I could tell they were trying to impress me to join and not me trying to impress them to let me join like other sororities. I made an awesome decision :)

I didn't even know they were part of the sorority until a few days before Rush so I figured if I like them already I can only imagine what the rest of them are like. Why Chi Omega Rho?
My roommate wanted to join a sorority so I went with her to rush. The O'Rhos seemed to be most interested in being friends rather than being overly pushy to join.
What is your favorite memory of the sorority?
The large celebratory gatherings such as Greek Day, Formal, Golf Outing. Those are my favorite moments where we were most proud to sport our letters and spend time with the whole group.
What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
Do it. Now, being in the real world for 5 years, I realize more than ever how beneficial the sorority was to my growth. The times that aren't always fun or easy teach you the most about communication, priorities, professionalism. The sorority teaches you how to speak up and most importantly when to speak up.
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
Among other things, I have learned how to be my own advocate, how to communicate clearly and concisely, how to dress like a professional, how to be a problem solver, and I have learned empathy.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
I have been working full time at a firm downtown, spending time with my family, friends and sisters.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
I gained irreplaceable friends, sisters, and memories. I was able to be apart of things I would never had experienced otherwise. My confidence, communication, professionalism, and leadership skills all improved.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
The great things I experienced in my time as a member and a lifelong sisterhood. Even as an alumnae, I still get constant support and encouragement from actives and fellow alum. I always know whenever I'm having a bad day there will forever be someone there to help me.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
The sisterhood and family I gained. I know I always have a group of amazing supportive women who have my back.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I chose Chi Omega Rho for so many reasons. I could keep going on and on, but in short, I chose it for the sisters. The girls were so welcoming and nice that I felt like we had become friends after talking just once. They were classy, business oriented, respectable women who were fun and friendly. They were the type of woman I aimed to be. Some of the other girls who ended up being my pledge sisters were friends I had met before classes even started, so it was a no brainer.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Relaxing and preparing to start law school!
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
The bonds I’ve formed with my sisters – I have made friends for life and I rely on these women so much. They mean the world to me!
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Confidence and empowerment. I’ve grown so much through my four years active and I feel ready to take on the next stage of my life, mostly due to the experiences I had as a sister of Chi Omega Rho.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
You get what you give – give the sorority your time, sweat, and tears, and you will grow so, so much from it.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
That I am a leader. I never would have expected it, but my sisters showed me that I have the ability to lead and put their faith in me.
What was your best experience while an active member?
Winning Greek Day 2014 – accepting the trophy for my sisters (I was president) and handing it over was the best experience of my life.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
“Individually Unique, Together Complete” each woman brings something different and unique to the sisterhood, but together we make an awesome, supportive group that can accomplish great things!
Why Chi Omega Rho?
Honestly, I went greek because I wanted a guaranteed group of girls to count on as my best friends - something I never had in high school. When I rushed, I found Chi Omega Rho: girls that were unique and more concerned with getting to know me as a person then as a prospective pledge. I was introduced to the sorority's beliefs, and they aligned so well with how I want to live and grow as a person that I was hooked. This knowledge formed the foundation for the best decision I've made, ever: pledging and joining Chi Omega Rho. I got what I was looking for and so much more; between friends, philanthropy, and fundraising, anything I do with my sisters is meaningful.

What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Confidence and empowerment. I’ve grown so much through my four years active and I feel ready to take on the next stage of my life, mostly due to the experiences I had as a sister of Chi Omega Rho.

Occupation? Systems Engineer at Ford Motor Company
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Right now I am finishing up my undergrad and focusing on my senior project. This year I am the Team Captain for Formula SAE. I will no longer be living with my other half (Nicole P) because I'm in the process of moving to Farmington Hills with Richard. Whenever I manage to find free time I try to fit in fun as much as I can with sisters and friends. Most importantly, Sunday mornings are spent brunching with Nicole P.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
I'm sure I am not the first or last to say this but it is so incredibly difficult to choose one thing. I learned who I wanted to be as a person, how to be humbled, how to work with different personalities, how to pull off a formal in 3 weeks, how to juggle a million things at once, creating the official sorority Crest, how no matter what crisis was happening- my sisters would get through it together, who I could always depend on, and ultimately to never compare myself to my sisters or anyone. This organization has given me so much, and I will always want to do what I can to help it grow.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
That this is forever. No matter where I am in life or in the world, I know these women and these letters will always be a part of me.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
Being a part of Chi Omega Rho and Greek Life gave me my best friends and the absolute best memories!
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I was the girl in high school who only saw what the media portrayed of Greek Life and never wanted to pay for what I thought was a ridiculous, party lifestyle. When I came to Lawrence Tech in high school for tours, I really admired all of the leaders on campus. When I made it to campus as a freshman, I noticed they were all in Greek blocks. I ended up becoming best friends with a room of guys (Richard, Matt, Austin and Brandon). Everywhere they went, I went. So when they showed up to recruitment events, I reluctantly did too. At the end of the first week, I went with the guys to a SigEp bonfire recruitment event. An hour later I realized I was the only girl (not that I was complaining!) and asked where the usual sorority was for the mixer. Apparently it was actually a guy's only event. I knew then that I needed to at least reach out and try to rush a sorority. All the guys brought up how Chi Omega Rho was founded from some of their Golderhearts way back when and that they thought I would be a good fit. I actually had met some of the older actives at Welcome Back Party too (Megan H and Katelyn F). I realized the girls genuinely wanted to get to know me and knew that even if I didn't join they still would be my friends. I had loved being so involved in high school and thought that going Greek at Lawrence Tech would be a great way to continue leadership skills in college. So long story short, I took the plunge and 10 weeks later was a sister of Chi Omega Rho with my Fall '11 pledge sisters!
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Don't sweat that small stuff. Always push to make whatever you are working on better. Have courage and be kind.
Best Memory?
Sorry I can't say just one.. CEOs and Corporate Secretaries party, seeing my daughter receive her daughter (Isabelle T), whenever Victoria R would come over to do homework with Nicole P and me, the crazy rush of recruitment, driving with sisters to a party, braking the stage during Song and Skit, winning Greek Day...

Nickname: Waka, Deets, Mousy
Birthday: October 10, 1993 Hometown: Ortonville, MI Major: Architectural Engineering Year Pledged: Fall 2011 Year went alumna: Spring 2015 Positions held in the sorority: Co-Scholastic Chair, Fundraising Chair, Webmaster, Vice President |
Daughter(s): Ronnie Schobert and Katelyn Ann Green
Big Brother: Demetrius Johnson (Sigma Pi)
Little Brothers: Sean Preston (SigEp) and Austin McKain (Sigma Pi)
Married? No
Kids? No
Occupation? Marketing Coordinator at Atwell, LLC
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
After I went alumnae, I graduated from LTU with my Masters in Architectural Engineering. I traveled to Colombia, South America with my dad for a week and then traveled mostly alone to Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, England, Scotland, and Sweden within a 4.5 week span. Once I returned, I moved to Detroit with my boyfriend and began working at Atwell, LLC as a Marketing Coordinator.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
It sounds so cliche, but having a family that was away from home. From pledging to being alum, I always felt like my sisters were there for me throughout the good and bad times. And that no matter what sticky situation we may get into, we stay together as a united front.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
When I initially joined Chi Omega Rho, I was timid and soft spoken. However, I found something within those 4 years - my voice. I became more outgoing, came up with new ideas to help the sorority, and became a leader and independent in my own way. I learned how to be efficient and organized when it came to my day-by-day activities. I learned how to communicate properly and be patient to others. Lastly, I learned to not compare myself to others and to be the best version of myself I could possibly be.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
When I came to college, I already had a goal of being a part of something that was bigger than myself, so from the start, I was seeking organizations to join. During discovery days, I learned about Greek Life and Chi Omega Rho had the biggest impression on me. They had a certain professionalism and energy to them that I wanted to grow into throughout college. My roommates at the time, Nicole Pitchford and Ariana Strieter, were also rushing. After going to the events, hanging out with the sisters, and getting to know what the sorority stood for, we jumped right in and pledged Chi Omega Rho together.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
As for the girls who are already part of Chi Omega Rho, I think you get the most from the organization when you attend and socialize at events and when you challenge yourself when you go for other positions. At the events, I not only created memories with my sisters, but I made new friends and bonded with other members who were in Greek Like. I also learned the most about myself and how I handle situations by taking on activities and positions like the golf outing, fundraising chair, and vice president.
As for the girls who are considering Chi Omega Rho, it may take some work and time to get through pledging and being an active member, but it is 100% worth it.
Best Memory?
Having an all-nighter with Ariana Strieter during winter break our sophomore year to create our Song and Skit and getting first place for that event. Getting Mega Rose at 35th Formal. The year I was on Greek Council and the impact we made. But honestly, every retreat or sisterhood sleepover made me feel so happy and proud to call those ladies my sisters.

What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
The sisterhood and the support that I was able to received. Many sisters helped me even when I was being difficult and resisting their help. I am so different from when I joined and I know that I am better off after learning and growing through Chi Omega Rho.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
It was the hardest day of my life. I did not want to go alumnae, I thought I wasn’t ready. I felt like I was being cut out of something that had a major impact on my life however, if I did not go alumnae then future sisters would not be able to grow.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Just do it. If you think you want to do it, just do it. It is not something that you expect to change you and make you a better person but it does. It changes you so much, you gain so much confidence. If it isn’t right for you that is totally okay but definitely try it. You never know what can happen in the future but you do know that your sisters are there for you no matter what happens.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
Leadership. I won the Student Leader of the Year for 2014. I was so surprised and just thought I was being me. That is one of the greatest parts of the sorority, the things you are good at become the things that you are great at and define you. Which sounds scary and crazy but honestly once you know who you are, the confidence SOARS.
What was your best experience while an active member?
35th Formal. There were 3 founding mothers there and it was amazing! We danced and were able to talk about where the sorority is now versus where it was when they created it. They were impressed and didn’t expect that the sorority would become the amazing organization it is today. That made me so happy and proud to be an O’Rho, the founding mothers were impressed by our active membership….like WHAT? That is crazy because they are people I look up to, it was just so surreal.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
The freedom to try new things. I did things I never thought I would. I learned things I didn’t know I needed to learn. I became such a different and better version of myself. I am so confident in the woman I have become and where I am going in life.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
The BEST group of girls. We are all so different and that’s what makes us great. Each person has their own ideals and opinions. This tends to create conflict which allows us to learn how to communicate with each other and learn how to process all opinions to create the greatest sisterhood, event, alumnae, the list goes on and on.

What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
You get what you put into it! The more you get involved the more you grow as a result. Don't be afraid to try new things.
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
It's okay to fail. Your sisters are going to be there for you and help you through the difficulties. Once you get used to failing, trying new things isn't quite so scary. That ability to do something even with the probable failure is a great asset.

Mother: Brittney Heard
Daughter: Tanya Tosspon, Audrey Yee
Big Brother: Richard Huddleston
Little Brothers: Kevin Roberts, Ben Videan
Married: No
Kids: Nope
Occupation: Student
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Upon graduation I relocated to Cincinnati for two years where I managed one of the testing labs within the Reliability and Development department of Ethicon Endo-Surgery. I have since moved back to Michigan where I am currently working full time for a dental laboratory overseeing their Quality department. I am also attending school half time to finish prerequisites so that I can pursue a career in Dentistry.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
The best part of being in Chi Omega Rho would have to be the experiences. As an active member I had more opportunities for activities and memorable occasions than I would have as a non-member. From formals to charities, to just hanging out with the girls and eating donuts, there was always something to do and someone to join in the activity.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Aside from the memories, I took invaluable life experiences from my time in Chi Omega Rho. Having spent some time in the workforce, I’ve consistently looked back at lessons I learned as an active member and applied it to my own life and career. Execution of simple things such as writing a formal email or dressing professionally, to more complex issues of conflict resolution or conducting a productive meeting were all tasks I unknowingly learned how to perform.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Don’t get too caught up in the little things. Be passionate but take a step back and truly look at the big picture and decide if something is worth your valuable time and effort.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I joined in the spring of my freshman year so I had a whole semester to decide which organization I wanted to become a part of. I remember not only feeling comfortable with the girls, but knowing that these ladies where what I aspired to be. They had a certain air of class and superiority yet were completely down to earth.
Best Memory?
During a particularly snowy winter, we had two snow days in a row. We had friends over and stayed up all night playing in the snow. In the morning we woke up and made blueberry pancakes and it was just a great two days. Some of the simplest memories are often the most memorable.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho? School and work. I’ll hopefully add more to this as the years go on!
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho? I feel that I’ve grown tremendously. I never planned on joining a sorority but I’m grateful that I did. I’ve learned a lot about myself as a person and that I’m capable of doing more than I thought I could. Four years ago I wouldn’t have felt like I could communicate professional, step outside of my comfort zone, or even make a lot of friends. Today I’ve gained all that, plus more. I’ve made a lot of friendships that I can successfully carry on for years. Through the ups and downs, I’ve taken so much away from being a part of Chi Omega Rho. I’ll never forget pledging, social events, rituals, etc. because each one of them has impacted my life one way or another.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae? I definitely didn’t feel ready. I felt like a part of me was about to leave forever and I cherished every single moment I’ve had since I rushed this sorority back in Fall 2010. I was sad to go but I knew that it was my time to go alumnae. Looking back on the past four years, I know that what I’ve done to impact the sorority won’t be forgotten.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho? Don’t forget to speak your mind! It’s so crucial that everyone shares what they’re thinking because their thoughts could have a bigger effect than they thought. Communication is always the biggest struggle within any organization, so why not make it as effective as possible?
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega Rho that you didn’t know you had? I’m capable of withstanding more than I thought I could, honestly. Pledging definitely helped me realize that time management is key and will always be an enemy. Once I was a full member of Chi Omega Rho, I still realized that I had to manage time to plan and go to events, go to meetings, etc. while juggling school and work. I feel much more successful as a person and I know that I can truly do anything that I put my mind to.
Why Chi Omega Rho? Honestly, why not? When I was a freshmen, I was scared out of my mind and I hated the thought of branching out and socializing with others. After meeting the sisters and coming out to Rush events, I appreciated that I found a group of girls that would help me thrive at LTU and life in general.
Best Memory? I don’t have a favorite memory, honestly. Everything about being an O’Rho is something I’ll value forever. From pledging to mixers and everything in between, each moment made me into the person I am today.

ELIZABETH (GILDEA) JORDANNickname: Momma Liz, Penga
Birthday: October 4, 1991 Hometown: Toledo, Ohio Major: Construction Engineering & Management Year Pledged: Fall 2010 Year went alumna: Spring 2014 Positions held in the sorority: President, Pledgemaster, Corresponding Secretary |
Mother: Sarah Lowrey
Daughter: Ari Strieter, Hanna Matievitch, and Miranda Klemp
Big Brother: Joe Fox (Alpha Sigma Phi)
Little Brother: Brandon Churches (Sigma Phi Epsilon), JJ Wierenga (Alpha Sigma Phi)
Married? Yes
Kids? Not yet
Occupation? Construction Project Engineer
Why Chi Omega Rho?
When I was rushing the sororities during the fall semester of my freshman year, Chi Omega Rho made me feel welcome. My personality and beliefs fit in with the other girls. They never pushed me into joining, they just wanted to become my friend. And friendship was all I wanted and needed at the time.
Favorite memory?
When I think of the sorority, one moment does not stand out for me. Instead, I think of all the friendships, recruitment weeks, parties, Greek Days and everything in between throughout my 4 active years. I also remember the hard work and dedication. But I remember it all with a smile on my face because I met so many lifelong friends and learned so many valuable lessons through the process.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Chi Omega Rho was the best decision I ever made. Whether you are a part of this organization or another, make the best of the time you have. Don’t take any moment with your sisters for granted. Four years, or less, goes by so quickly so have fun and do crazy things you never thought you would do (within reason and the law of course). However, being in a sorority is not all fun and games. Go to as many fundraising and charity events as you can and put in as much effort as you think you can, and more. I promise you this, you have a lot more potential than you think you do!
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
I never knew how much of a leader I could be. Before I joined Chi Omega Rho, I would never have believed myself to be capable of even being a part of an executive board. I never used to be outspoken or show my feelings outwardly. Chi Omega Rho forced me to step up to the plate and take on responsibilities that I otherwise would not have. In my third year, I realized that I needed to take the responsibility of President, and I took it with pride and passion. I never believed I could have so much passion for one thing (other than penguins). The sorority has inspired me to always fight for my beliefs and taught me to be the best friend and person I can be.
What was your best experience while an active member?
I had four best experiences; Receiving my mother and three daughters. Your sisters are all your family, but there is something special about calling someone your “mother” or “daughter”. These are my closest bonds within the sorority. I am beyond blessed to have the privilege of having three daughters, which is almost unheard of. I hope I never take it for granted and I will always be there for them.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
The friendship and support that I constantly had. I knew my sisters always had (and still do) have my back at any moment. I can call on them at a moment’s notice to be there for me in a time of need, whether that be a failed test, a birthday celebration, or if I just need someone to go to dinner with.
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
Absolutely! I would say that my leadership and conflict resolution skills were developed most during my time in the sorority. I use these skills every day in my personal life and at work when dealing with clients, coworkers, subcontractors, etc.

Mother: Erin Kleibecker
Daughter: None
Big Brother: Dan Pniewski (Alpha Sig)
Little Brother: None
Married: Nope
Kids: Not for a while
Occupation: Aviation Structural Mechanic for the Navy
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Nothing too interesting. I just figured out what I wanted to do with my life and went with it. So I enlisted in the Navy and I am very happy about my decision.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
I feel the best part was being able to bond with other people in a way that was unexplainable. The friendships I have and the girls I know because of this sorority have helped shape me as a person and I would not have been able to make it through my first year of college without them.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Before I became and O'rho I was a very unorganized person and if pledging taught me anything it was to be organized and on time. I feel like those are the two main things that have helped me in life. But I also took away a lot of good memories and friendships that will never be forgotten.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
For the girls that are in it, soak up everything you can and enjoy the little things. My time as an active was so short and I feel like. I didn't have enough time in the sorority. Just take it day by day and remember you have a lot of support behind you in your sisters. For the girls interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho, really take the time to decide if greek life is for you and don't make a decision without knowing what you are getting into. Greek life is awesome and I enjoyed every second of it but it is not for everyone. If you really want to go greek the O'rho's are an awesome group of girls and I am proud to be an alumni of theirs and have gotten to learn about the sorority in depth after I joined.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
I didn't know I could be as outgoing as I was when I was in the sorority. When I was in high school I was the shy girl in the corner and when I joined the O'rho's I really came out of my shell. They made it easy because I felt so comfortable around all of them from the beginning.
What was your best experience while an active member?
I have way too many to think of but if I had to choose one it would be getting to know all of the other greek organizations. The sorority made sure we were social with everyone who was greek and I have made awesome friendships because of that.
What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
I love that the sorority keeps me informed of things and gives me the option to get involved. It was really nice being able to see everyone after I has already left LTU since I chose to leave the school so soon. I wasn't ready to leave the sorority and the way they keep in contact with their alumi, it made it seem like I had never left.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
I feel the best part of Chi Omega Rho is the actives drive to do more things with other organizations and their discipline when they need to accomplish certain goals.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I didn't choose Chi Omega Rho, they chose me. I felt like I fit in better with all of the girls and was so honored to have them feel the same way. Plus I was introduced to Erin and Katelyn the second day of school and instantly knew they were like me and we would end up having fun together in the future. So I didn't really give the other sororities a chance because I knew Chi Omega Rho was right for me.
Best Memory?
My best memory would have to be winter retreat when I coined the phrase "I'm such a lightweight but it's cheaper!" I was way to drunk that night thanks to the Dirty Girl Scouts and the alumni but I would not trade that experience for anything.

What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Friendships. I formed bonds closer than I ever imagined coming in to Chi Omega Rho. These are the girls I will travel to come see for holidays or I will invite to my wedding. If something is going wrong or I got good news these were the people that I would come to first. Whether its good or bad these girls are here to listen, no matter if we are celebrating or sitting to eat a gallon of ice cream.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
I think learning about being in a "business" because that's what a sorority is about. You learn to work with people, plan events, become a stronger leader, and of course have fun. I have become so much more of a well-rounded person since I joined Chi Omega Rho and I know I will use those skills everyday from here on. Also, I was a big part of on-campus life. I knew most people and others knew me. Greek life is important at LTU and is a great incentive to getting a job on campus!
Why Chi Omega Rho?
Chi Omega Rho was so welcoming and really made an effort to get to know me as a person. They also were just the most fun to hang out with. We shared common interests and goal so it made it that much easier to hang out. I knew coming in to LTU there were not that many girls to be friends with but I found the perfect group!

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
I've been alumnae for about 2 weeks but in these two weeks I've been figuring out what I want to do with my life. I'm also trying to spend as much time with all of the new active girls that I won't be able to be around 24/7 in the Fall!
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
The friends I have made that turned into family. As clique as that sounds it's the truth!
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Me going alumnae made me realize how much I really did appreciate being in the sorority!
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
DO IT! Take all that you can from it! I didn't have the opportunity to do so because I have to leave early! So do all the positions you can, and excel at them!
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
I realized that I shouldn't worry about what people think about me and to not change for anyone, unless for the better. I also wanted to be the go-to person if anybody ever needed anything whether it was for a good laugh or to confide in. As long as it's not asking for a ride I will be able to do it ! =D
What was your best experience while an active member?
Where do I start, I share memories with each girl! Each event or time I spent with each sister I don't know how to narrow it down!
What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
My best part of going alumni is hopefully going to be able to expose Chi Omega Rho to Wayne State and start a new chapter!!
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
The absolute BEST part about being in Chi Omega Rho was being able to make the friends I have today, and for life! It was also a great way to experience my college years that I may have not been able to if I didn't join.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I chose Chi Omega Rho because since I was a commuter student and didn't have a meal plan, I was offered free food! Just kidding ! I went to the events and felt like I could be myself and they accepted me and my crazy ways!
Best Memory?
My best memory besides our sisterly events was going to Canada with Erin after taming ! It was a great way to celebrate my 19th birthday and turned into an AMAZING friendship that I wouldn't change for the world!! It also led to soo many hilarious experiences and memories that I don't know how to explain!

My best experience while being active in Chi Omega Rho was my last semester, when Sarah and I were the older members and taught the newer members the traditions of Chi Omega Rho.
What do you feel was the best part of Chi Omega Rho?
The best part of Chi Omega Rho is that it is always trying to make you a better person. You always want to be making yourself a better person and preparing for the business world.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I chose Chi Omega Rho because they were the girls who stuck out in my mind most during Recruitment I also was really close with Sigma Phi Epsilon my first semester and they told me to check out Chi Omega Rho and I did and I loved the girls, so I rushed and pledged!

Birthday: October 13, 1990 Hometown: Muskegon, MI Major: I was Architecture at LTU, but now I'm Interior Design at MSU Year Pledged: Fall 2009 Year went alumna: Spring 2012 Positions held in the sorority: Fundraising Chair, Recording Secretary |
Mother: Sarah Dare
Daughter: Kelsie Foster, Nicole Pitchford
Big Brother: Lance Howard (Theta Tau)
Little Brother: Justin Lee (Sig Ep) Dominic Alkitib (Sigma Pi)
Married: no, hook me up
Kids: maybe one day if I ever get married
Occupation: Student at MSU
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
I took life long memories and friendships. I know that sounds a bit cliche, but it's really true! I'm always reminiscing about the fun times I had at LTU, and a lot of the memories involve my O'rhos. I also gained a better understanding of the business world. I feel extremely prepared in business and professional situations all because of my experience in the sorority. This definitely gives me more confidence and a leg up on other people new to the setting
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
I learned what a determined and hard worker I could be. I pledged solo, was an excellent fundraising chair, and held an e-board position while attending another school. With the accomplishments in the sorority, it gave me confidence that I was capable of taking on other responsibilities and challenges outside of the sorority that I probably would not have before because I did not think I was cut out for it.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I liked the balance between social and business that the sorority offered. Kind of like a Tuxedo t-shirt...it says"i want to be formal, but I'm here to party" (bonus points if you can name that movie). I think there needs to be a good balance between business and social and Chi Omega Rho definitely demonstrates that. I also liked how down to earth all the girls were. It made them super easy to get along with.

Why Chi Omega Rho?
This first thing that stuck out to me about Chi Omega Rho was that they didn’t judge me. They respected the fact that I did not drink, that I’m reserved, and that my faith is important to me. They never tried to pressure me into doing something I did not want to do. After hanging out with the girls during rush and getting to know them I decided to pledge.
Best Memory:
I’d have to say my best memory is the pledging process. I grew a lot as a person during pledging. I’m a very reserved person and I’m not big on stepping outside of my comfort zone. Pledging really pushed my limits and it forced me to put myself out there. I had the perfect pledge sister for doing just that. Stefani and I are complete opposites, she’s very out spoken and I’m not. Stefani was really good at pushing my limits. Joining Chi Omega Rho has made me a better person and it continues to challenge me every day.

Occupation: Community Manager with Greystar Management
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Since going alumni, I graduated from the International Academy of Design and Technology with my BFA in Graphic Design. I just recently was given the opportunity to work for Greystar Management, a company I have been working to get in with for about a year. I was pleased to assist in the planning of this year's Scholarship Golf Outing and am truly amazed to see how big we have built this event to be.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
The best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho was learning exactly who I am as a woman and finding out what I'm actually capable of doing. The friendships I formed were also one of the best parts and all of the memories I took away from my 3 years of being active.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
The biggest thing I took away from Chi Omega Rho were the friendships I formed with the sisters and the memories I will never forget.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Have fun!!!! Your 4 years will go by so fast so make the most out of them. Learn to separate the business aspect from the fun aspect. After all, we are a part of a sorority so we're allowed to get crazy sometimes!
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega rho that you didn't know you had until after being a part of it?
I learned just how confident I was and learned how to determine what was important in life and what wasn't.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
They were the first girls to approach me on my first day at LTU and actually wanted to get to know me. I instantly felt comfortable around them and knew that they were the girls I wanted to call my sisters.
Best Memory?
There are too many to choose from but one of the top ones was probably Stoplight party when Katie, Jenna and I broke into Maureen's car to do dirty girl scout shots and then Katie and Jenna proceeded to go jump in the bushes.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae?
I am finishing up my last year in school and will be graduating in May 2010 in Civil Engineering.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
I think the best part of Chi Omega Rho is the bonds of sisterhood. I know I will have lifelong friends from Chi Omega Rho.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
I left with great friendships, experiences, and I also grew as a person. I was never very involved in charities or fundraising types of events in high school so I really liked the fact that I was given those opportunities.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Your experience of Chi Omega Rho will only be as great as you make it out to be. If you feel you aren't getting anything out of the sorority, you need to change your approach. Don't get caught up in the drama. Also, tap into your alumnae contacts for anything you need! They have lots of great advice to give if it is sought out.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had?
I learned that I could be a leader. I came into Chi Omega Rho very shy and I had zero confidence. I left Chi Omega Rho as their president and I held other important positions. Going into pledging, I never thought that I could accomplish the things that I did. Of course there is always room for improvement, but I have come a long way since I was a freshman at LTU.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho? Since being an active member of Chi Omega Rho, I have been working fulltime. I started off at a few miscellanous jobs due to the recession, then recieved a position with a construction company in 2010, and just recently began working for Johnson Controls in 2012. I also continued my education and went on to obtain my Masters in Business Administration in December of 2011. What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae? Like I stated in the previous question, I learned a lot about myself, the woman I wanted to become, and how important friendships really are.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho? The advice I can give to current and future girls of Chi Omega Rho is to have fun, enjoy being apart of a great organization, and take with you knowledge that you can use in the future. Chi Omega Rho is, and always has been, a group of girls that know how to have a good time no matter where they go and what they are doing. However, they are also a group of girls that are professional, intelligent, beautiful, caring, kind, carry values and morals. Girls that are current members and girls that want to become a member can learn a great deal from one another to help them with their future goals in life, whether it is a job career, love life, or personal life. These girls are there to provide help, guidance, good influences and an amazing friendship.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
I went to England for my masters in advertising, traveled Europe to Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Venice, Rome, and Paris. Since I have returned from there I began searching for a job. I have worked for a Plastic Surgeon working on their marketing where I went back to visit some friends at my internship I landed my current job. I have also bread my dog....never again! However, I did get one cute puppy out of it.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Actives....Cherish your moments with each other because as you branch out you stay close to the ones you really connected with and occasionally see the rest. Also seize the opportunity to meet alum even if you don't know them. Building that connection may help you find a job or a great opportunity for the sorority. Future girls that may be interested....SEIZE the opportunity. Not only is Chi Omega a great group of hard working girls who like to have fun, but the opportunities are endless when you enter the Greek system even after college!!
What was your best experience while an active member?
I loved pledging and bonding with my wonderful pledge sisters who are most dear to me!
Why Chi Omega Rho? Why not?! Chi Omega Rho because they approached you first, because they said hello within your first days of going to college or to a new college. Chi Omega Rho because they smiled at you, because they helped you move in or because they invited you out to your first college event. Chi Omega Rho because we are professional, we have fun and we're honest. Chi Omega Rho because we see it as your future, a new chapter in your life and you should too! Join because you're always welcomed in our homes, hearts and presence.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
Approached me first and loved who they were, Blair Teeple Swanson & Kathleen Lillianthal William's on move in day!
Favorite memory?
Pledging with my pledge sisters, we were challenging to say the least.
What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
I was stubborn, I would say I wish I stayed in better contact with my sisters, and was smarter about the resources they offered. Cherish these women!
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
Each position is an opportunity to lead, whether BCG or President, you have an opportunity to add your knowledge, dedication and passion to each one you lead. You get out what you put in and that love, dedication and passion has driven me to be the leader and business woman I am today.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Nothing fascinating since it hasn't been that long but basically I have been focusing on the next stages of my life i.e. career goals, marriage, family, friendships. I promise this section will get better :o)
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Having the experience that someone is always there for you when you need them regardless of the situation.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Besides the typical response "Sisters for life".. I took with me the ability to determine what really matters in life and what doesn't.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
For members: Life is too short to dwell on petty ridiculous things...never be afraid to show who you really are or say what you really thing...and Sisters of Chi Omega Rho do not judge each other or compare each other...For future members or Greeks in general: Being a part of Chi Omega Rho or any organization for that matter is going to be as great or as miserable as you make it to be. You are the only one that can determine what you will take from the experience. Be open minded and always remember what made you want to be a part of that organization.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being apart of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had?
As stone cold as I try to portray myself, I really do have feelings!!

What are you best experiences going and being alumni?
The core group of friends I have kept in touch with over the years since graduating is priceless. We really are “sisters for life”.

What was your best experience while an active member?
I would have to say that the best memories I have from the sorority were at the Rose Petal Gala's. That was the one time where everyone was together, everyone was happy, and we all had a great time.
What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
I am a fairly new alumni, but one of the best experiences I had in the process of going alumni was typing up my alumni letter. It really showed me personally how much the sorority meant to me all those years and how much I was going to miss it.
Best Memory?
The look on Adrianne VanBaak’s face when I walked into the Atrium for PofI. No one knew I had any intention of pledging and it was a last minute decision, so the look on everyone’s faces, especially Adrianne’s, was priceless!

Big Brother: Charles Stockton (SigEp)
Little Brother: N/A
Married: Yes
Kids: Brooklyn Grace and Malin Faith.
Occupation: Homemaker and SAHM
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
If I had to choose only one thing, it would be the lifelong bond that I have with members of the sorority. I have tried to stay in touch with as many members as possible, stay updated on the sorority's current events and continued to encourage and support alumnae participation.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
For the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho, my advice would be to experience as much as possible because now is the time (and later it will become more difficult due to life changes, family, etc.). You will see how worthwhile the entire experience is while being an active member. Be kind to one another and listen when others are speaking. Strive to make the sorority the best it can be and always remember that you are representing the organization in all that you do. Be respectful but have fun. If you are part of my family tree, make me proud!
For any girls who may be interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho, know that there is both fun and some work involved while being part of the organization. It is a great social network to meet new people and make fun memories while in college but our organization is also involved with charity work and fundraising events. We want to better the community while still having fun.
Why Chi Omega Rho?
I chose Chi Omega Rho because I was close friends with Jana (Paschen) Walsh at the time and as President she opted to modify the Constitution so that I was able to pledge Chi Omega Rho since I did not attend LTU or belong to any Greek organization at my school. I was the first person to do this and it was such an honor. It was and has always been a lifetime honor for which I am so grateful. I love the sorority and always will.
Favorite memory?
So many great memories to choose from but I always loved the theme parties like Graffiti & Mud Wrestling, Spaghetti Dinner was so fun and the fundraisers were amazing.
What advice do you have for girls who are interested in joining?
Please join for the right reasons and if the time is right for you. Commit fully and give it your all! You won’t regret it and it will be one of the best memories of your college experience!
Did you learn anything from your time as a member of Chi Omega Rho that you have used in your personal or professional life?
I learned from my pledge class (member) to “suck it up” as she once said. That has stuck with me for the rest of my life after college. Be strong, learn from mistakes and keep moving forward with head held high. Don’t apologize for being yourself. There is only one you.

What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
There were so many wonderful aspects to being a member of Chi Omega Rho from establishing relationships/friendships with many incredible women to learning to work together with members of Chi Omega Rho and other organizations throughout the University to accomplish both sorority and personal goals.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
When I became an alumna of Chi Omega Rho I took with me a network of women and an outlet to stay in touch with my sisters and members of other Greek organizations on campus.
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Chi Omega Rho is a great avenue to meet friends, network, and become involved in the Lawrence Tech community. However, it is critical to remain focused and not lose sight of the primary reason for attending LTU which is to obtain an education.

Why Chi Omega Rho?
I wanted to meet other females on campus.

Road Rally Event amongst the Greeks.
What advice do you have for girls that are interested in joining Chi Omega Rho?
Be authentic. Be friendly. Participate as much as possible. (I worked nearly full time, went to school full time, was in a folk dance group...so I know it is impossible to do nearly everything and keep sane.)

Year Pledged: Fall 1997
Year went Alumna: Spring 2001
What was your best experience while an active member?
My best experience as an active member would have to be the last formal that I attended. At that moment I was close to most everyone that was a member and I felt the most connected to the membership. We all had a great time dancing and just enjoying each others company. I will never forget that night.
What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
My best experience as an alumni was the planning of the 25th anniversary formal. I really enjoying meeting with the committee to plan an event that would not only be for them but also for everyone that had ever been a member. I also loved putting together 25 years of sisterhood into scrapbooks that would always be around for future sisters to see everything that we have done, and what we are all about.

Little Brother: Mike Tessmer (Sig Pi), Brad (Sig Pi)
Year went Alumna: 1997
Married: Yes, to Gavin in 2000
Kids: Michaela (2) with the second child on the way (due in Feb. 2007)
Occupation: Full-time Mother & Part-time Architect
What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
I had a couple of fun-filled road trips across the US and back (Route 66!). I worked for an architectural firm in Keego Harbor and also in Southfield before I moved to Wales, UK in 1998 where I did my post grad at Cardiff University. Got married the same week as graduation. Been working for the same architectural practice in Wales since 1998. I love to travel... Italy, France, China... and of course back and forth to Troy, Mi!! We now live in England.
What do you feel was the best part of being a part of Chi Omega Rho?
I enjoyed every part of being an O'Rho.
What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Friends for life - doesn't matter how far apart you live from each other, you know you have really good friends when keeping in touch has not been difficult. We are such good friends and have supported each other through all of life's craziness... the boyfriends, the weddings and now all the babies!
What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already a part of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interested in becoming a part of Chi Omega Rho?
Enjoy your time as an O'Rho and get involved as much as you can. I didn't realize it at the time nor when I joined how much being part of the sorority was going to help set me up for life... the friends, people and social skills (and I'm not talking parties and alcohol!), and balancing all the responsibilities with school, work and personal life.
What quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being a part of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had?
Self confidence.

What was your best experience while an active member?
“Secretly” working on the rituals with the founding mothers in Lori Ellingboe's attic. We had a ball everywhere we went as a group! We had at least one sleep away retreat a year. What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
I enjoy sharing what I know about the profession of architecture to kids in school. Also, contributing my time for the design and development of a community center where I live here in Vermont.
