What is an o'rho?

O’RHO’s are proud members of Chi Omega Rho, a local sorority based in Southfield, Michigan. Founded on the campus of Lawrence Technological University in 1978, we are truly one of a kind. Chi Omega Rho was established by eight devoted women whose dedication helped the sorority grow into one of the most established organizations on campus. The motto we live by is, “Purity in the bonds of sisterhood and the awakening of womanhood.”

Chi Omega Rho is a close-knit group of young women who encourage and support one another in both social and academic growth throughout college and for many years beyond graduation. Our members are actively involved in other organizations, philanthropies, and fundraisers, while also sharing a strong bond of sisterhood that creates a meaningful support system and lifelong friendships.

Philanthropy

We take pride in the philanthropies we contribute to each and every year. Our main philanthropies are Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, which supports families with children receiving medical care, and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which funds research and promotes awareness to help end breast cancer.

Each year, Chi Omega Rho continues to advance its mission by awarding a scholarship to an incoming female freshman who has demonstrated strong leadership skills, community involvement, and academic excellence.
In 2021, we were proud to raise $3,500 at our 11th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing, which was awarded to incoming freshman women in the form of scholarships.

Social & Academic Life

Get to know the sisters
You will often find our sisters studying together in the library, laughing and spending time in the Atrium, or pulling long hours in studio. While college can be stressful, having a strong support system ensures that no one ever feels alone.

Architecture and Design, Business Administration, Nursing, and Mechanical Engineering are just a few of the majors represented among our members. Regardless of their fields of study, our sisters continuously encourage one another in their pursuit of academic excellence. Beyond their involvement in the sorority, our members are influential both on and off campus. Sisters participate in a wide range of organizations and activities, including Student Government, Women’s Bowling, SODA, Greek Council, American Society of Civil Engineers, Steel Bridge, Women’s Lacrosse, DECA, 4-H, Society of Suicide Awareness and Prevention, Order of Omega, Coalition of Student Designers (created by our own sister, Andrea Hauser), and the Society of Women Engineers.

"THE TIES THAT BIND ME TO MY SISTERS ARE NOT WRAPPED AROUND MY WRISTS, BUT RATHER ARE FASTENED TO MY HEART."
